An LCD ceiling mount is the perfect opportunity to maximize the limited space found in many home offices and computer desks. But lest you think these mounts are only useful for monitors, think again. They also cater to those who want a TV hanging above their bed staring down at them all night, and those who can’t live without a TV that hangs down from their kitchen cabinets.

Now while we were being slightly facetious with that last sentence, the truth is that these ceiling mounts truly do offer you the freedom to hang an LCD monitor or TV just about anywhere you can dream up, provided of course that it is fastened vertically.

Different models of ceiling mounts come with different functions, many of which are ideal for saving space in confined areas. Some mounts allow the mounting tube to be raised and lowered, allowing you to bring the LCD display down to the desired height and then re-raise it after use. Others allow you to fold the tube and monitor up after use so it’s flat against the ceiling. Cords and cables can also be run right through the tubing, keeping the clutter and eyesore of hanging cords out of your life.

Most ceiling mounts have full 360 degree swivel and rotation capability, so you can spin the display around and tilt it in just about any direction your heart desires. These mounts are designed for different sized monitors and TV’s, with some allowing for only smaller displays to mounted, usually no more than 20 inches, while others can hold up to 175 pounds or more of weight, which typically equals a 50 inch LCD display. While ceiling mounts are not typically used with larger displays, the option does exist in the event a wall mount isn’t feasible or desired.

If you really want to get fancy and indulge yourself, there are even ceiling mounts that can hold multiple displays at once, as many as 4. Setups like this are usually only useful for commercial institutions, but in the event you need multiple displays in the same area, such as when having two computers and two monitors hooked up in the same room, this would be the ideal solution.

For smaller displays, most notably LCD computer monitors, an LCD ceiling mount is ideal. It frees up space in what is usually a cluttered desk and office setup, while still providing a great viewing angle. Though not used as often for larger model LCD displays, it is a more than viable alternative if you simply don’t want to wall mount your LCD TV. Just be warned, if you do get creative and hang a display above your bed, you may never be able to sleep again.
